Where were you born and where do you live?

I was born in San José and live in Heredia, Costa Rica.

When and why did you start making art?

I‘ve always liked the way nature and the whole world presents itself before our eyes, so different from each other. I wanted to try to portray the way I see it, so that people could appreciate as all we have.

What inspires you?

Everything I see. I try to find beauty in everything. In that way, I hope that others can find it too.

What about your technique is unique and different from other artists?

I am a self-taught photographer. I try to connect with every place I am about to photograph, understand what things have happened there and find some different points of view and composition in each picture.

What themes are present in your artwork?

Mostly landscapes, nature, fauna. But sometimes I like to match this with cityscapes, architecture, or doing it separately.

How has your culture impacted your artistic process?

Sadly, art is not always supported by everyone. Even now, it’s still difficult. That’s why it took me so long to finally make art in a more serious way and invest in better equipment. But I have found amazing people who appreciate what we do and we support each other. That makes my artistic process easier in many ways.

Name one artist or artwork from your hometown that you are very fond of.

My uncle, Ronald. He is a self-taught photographer as well. I’ve learned to love this art in big part because of him.

What does your art mean to you?

It means that I can express myself in so many ways. It makes me feel free when I am doing what I love, even when it tests me in so many ways.

What message do you want to relay through your work?

I want to transmit something to other people, so that they can see what I see, but feel it in a different way from each other.

Describe your work in one word.

Dedication. Love.
